Health Screenings

Health Screening:

A Texas Health Steps medical checkup is more than routine. Each checkup is designed for your child’s specific age and includes all the medical screenings, vaccinations (shots), and laboratory tests recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Each time you take your child to a Texas Health Steps medical checkup, the doctor or PA will do a head-to-toe examination of your child, checking things like:

  • Skin condition.
  • Ears, nose, and throat.
  • Teeth.
  • Vision.
  • Hearing.
  • Head and brain (includes testing of coordination, reflexes, and senses).
  • Heart.
  • Chest and lungs.
  • Stomach area / abdomen.
  • Bones and skeletal structure.

In each Texas Health Steps checkup your child’s doctor or PA will talk with you about your child’s health. You’ll get answers to your questions about how your child is developing and what to expect as your child grows.
